Cet album est devenu un classique, et le premier avec Brian Johnson, juste 5 mois après la mort de Bon Scott, et fêtera ses 30 ans le dimanche 25 juillet.
AC/DC avait commencé à écrire l'album avant la mort de Bon. Le dernier album avec la voix de Bon est ‘Highway To Hell’. Les membres du groupe ont commencé les répétitions juste deux jours après la mort de leur chanteur, Malcolm déclare : 'je n'allais pas rester assis là, je suis allé chercher Angus et lui ai demandé s'il voulait venir répéter'"
Le premier single extrait de ‘Back In Back’ était ‘You Should Me All Night Long’, c'est aussi le premier titre écrit par Johnson pour le groupe.
‘Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ était le deuxième extrait.
‘Back In Black’ est l'un des albums les plus vendus de tous les temps avec plus de 40 millions de copies dans le monde, avec 22 millions juste aux USA.

Malgré la mort de Bon, AC/DC a su sortir 2 albums de suite qui sont devenus mythiques :

Ac/Dc frontman Brian Johnson revealed during an appearance this past Thursday (July 29) on "The Chris Evans Breakfast Show" on U.K.'s Bbc Radio 2 that the band will "probably bring a live album out" at some point in the not-too-distant future. (Hear audio excerpt from the interview below.)

On July 25, 1980, Ac/Dc released "Back In Black" in the U.S., followed by the album's U.K. release on July 31. It was the band's first album without lead singer Bon Scott, who had died a few months earlier after passing out and choking on his own vomit following a long night of drinking.

The group quickly decided to press on and hired Brian Johnson from the band Geordie to take over on vocals, and they headed to the Bahamas for about six weeks to do the album. Ac/Dc had made some serious headway in America before Scott's death, but no one knew how "Back In Black" would be received. The album took off, and eventually sold over 21 million copies in the U.S.

Johnson told The Pulse of Radio that he didn't have a clue how successful "Back In Black" would turn out to be. "I'd just melted me brain in there, and I didn't know if it was good or bad," he said. "That was the first time I'd been in the Bahamas, anyway, or near America, you know, and you (have to) remember, I was just fascinated by the whole culture and all, and I had no idea what the hell I was doing! And (laughs) lucky, really - I was a bit lucky, I think."

"Back In Black" included the singles "You Shook Me All Night Long", which peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Back In Black", which peaked at No. 37.

Despite its massive success, it never got higher than No. 4 on the album charts. The band's next album, "For Those About To Rock", reached No. 1.

"Back In Black" is tied for fifth place with Billy Joel's "Greatest Hits Vols I & Ii" on the list of the biggest selling albums in the U.S.

C'est en tout cas ce qu'a annoncé le chanteur Brian Johnson jeudi dernier lors de l'émission "The Chris Evans Breakfast Show" sur la radio BBC 2.

C'est vrai, ce serait bête de ne pas 'transformer' l'essai de cette tournée marathon, espacée sur 3 ans, et qui a vu le groupe australien s'emparer du titre de "2éme tournée la plus lucrative" de tous les temps !
Pour les chiffres du "Black Ice tour":
nombre de concerts : 168
nombre total de spectateurs : 4.9 million
Gains finaux : 441.6 million $

Le record de bénéfices pour une tournée est celle des Rolling Stones en 2005-2007 "A bigger Band Tour" qui rapporta 558,3 million de dollars (sur 147 concerts).
